The Latest Updates on Covid-19 Vaccine, Codes, and More
It’s been just over one year since the first confirmed Covid-19 diagnosis in the United States. After struggling through months of spiking cases, lockdowns, and significant human costs, the end is in sight. Pharmaceutical companies managed to produce safe, effective vaccines using advanced genome sequencing technology.
Now that the vaccines are approved and actively being distributed, many providers are asking; how are we going to document vaccinations and report them appropriately? Fortunately, our amazing team at PRL has done the research and gotten those answers. Today we are happy to provide knowledge and assistance to the providers who have unanswered questions about coding and reporting. In this post, we will review the updated codes, administration, and reporting guidelines, and provide a code reference guide.
This is our part in ensuring that our customers can act quickly and decisively when it comes to vaccinating their patients. Together, we can all help stop the spread of Covid-19 and restore normalcy.
We have provided three reference documents. The first contains the Covid-19 ICD-10 Codes for 2021. This includes;
Screening and Personal History Diagnosis Codes and Confirmed Covid-19 Diagnosis Codes and Code Sets.
The next document contains;
Covid-19 Vaccine Administration and Vaccine Reporting Guidelines.
The final resource document;
Covid-19 Vaccine Administration and Vaccine Code Quick Reference Guide.
Each code is assigned based on the vaccine manufacturer; either Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca.
We also encourage you to watch our quick video overview. If you have any questions, contact our experts and they will assist you and provide any necessary clarification to help you successfully vaccinate your patients.
